IS K-MUSIC=K-POP OR NOT?

Ai ai, rockafella!

Let's talk about k-music for today 🇰🇷🎤
You know, I've been a 'kpop nazi' ever since I was in standard 3 and yes, it was such a good time long ago with good musics playing around and I got nothing left to worry about. **wee woo wee woo i actually miss the old days and the old me**. 💆‍
And you know, I wasn't actually going to share on how I started listening to korean songs but let me just tell you straight ahead because I just can't help it .Actually, it was my friend Iqlil Faqihah whose responsible for introducing me to this kind of music and she even made a gang back then. (Nice move, folks!) ***

So, long story short, I got infested with her scheme and until now I still listened to k-music because
this industry just got so damn big that the songs they produced came in variety colours and cater people's preferences all over the world.

So what is K-pop guys? Is k-pop a k-music, or a part of k-music? Well, let's see... 🌻

K-pop (korean pop), is actually characterized by wide variety of audiovisual elements (Holden & Scrase, 2006). So, although k-pop generally classifies "popular music" within South Korea, the term is often used in a narrower sense to describe the modern South Korean pop which is widely influenced by styles and genres from all around the world, such as Western pop music, rock, experimental, jazz, gospel, Latin, hip hop, R&B, reggae, electronic dance, folk, country, and classical on top of its uniquely traditional korean roots (Timothy, 2016). Therefore, it is safe to say that k-pop is not only korean songs stressing on pop genre but its a fusion of all existing genres which mainly influences by the western music. Am I right or am I partially right, I am not sure. I am neither a professional musician or whatnot but according to the descriptive definitions on web, this is all what I could come out hihi.

Yeah, now since we  are going deep into this, perhaps I should also mention a little (not too much) about how the modern k-pop "idol" culture began to make a revolution in this industry. It started with boy band H.O.T in 1996, ***which definitely not my era since I was born in 1998**, 💁 this kind of music had grew into a subculture that amassed enormous fandoms of teenagers and young adults. However, today, I had witnessed generous amounts of adults still listening to k-pop, and it's fascinating how this culture still hold a big influence on adult community.

H.O.T which popular in the late 90s
Well, I guess that's it for today, 🙌 and before I leave, I shall tell you that the first k-pop artist that got me into this music long before my friend influenced me is BoA, since I was a big fan of Inuyasha and she happened to sing a credit song on that anime. I love the ending song very much that I could sing along to it when I was a kid 🙆‍

P/S: BoA was more famous in Japan before, though she is a korean singer
